The scholarship aims to showcase how embracing Greek values and immersing oneself in Greek traditions and principles can positively impact the lives of Greek-American students. Last year's winners, Sophia Shakolas from La Palma, California, and George Exarchakis from Monroe Township, New Jersey, did a brilliant job tying their Greek heritage to their path in life. UGA will be offering a first place scholarship for $ 1,000, and a second place scholarship of $ 500. In order to apply, applicants must simply submit a 2 to 3 page essay on "how their Hellenic roots have positively impacted their life's values and outlook in order to carry the torch for themselves and future generations of proud Greeks." Essays must be submitted by May 10, 2016, and the winners will be announced on Memorial Day Weekend. If you decide to enter, you can submit your essay at unitedgreekamericans@gmail.com. No matter what the outcome of your application, you should come join the UGA Clearwater Party on Memorial Day Weekend, which is guaranteed to be an even bigger event than last year's incredible success! Sign up for a weekend of music, drinks, and connecting with Greeks from all over the USA while enjoying the sunshine, palm trees and the white sands of Clearwater Beach - if you're not convinced yet, check out the video below from last year's party, and see all the crowds and fun you will not want to miss out
